NoctumDesign
NoctumDesign.com started as my professional site. Design and implementation took about four months. Most of the HTML was assembled with PHP, the CSS is custom, and MySQL held the blog, logins, page hits, and navigation in eight tables.
The site online today is that writing, presented as a blog called “I build things.” The home page leads with recent posts instead of a résumé. One post compares Proxmox and Unraid as two ways to run a home server. Others argue for Proxmox on its own, and for Unraid as a place to keep a media library and a Plex server. An older post walks through the rack itself, which began around 2005 as five PCs on the floor.
Other posts cover Python for the machines I look after: a script for servers at work and at home, a script written while pulling Windows PCs out of a school district, and two notes on serving a site from memory. The menu groups that writing under Home Lab, Python, People, Unraid, Plex, and the Bitcoin mining pool. The newest posts in that list are from September 2023, and the older lab notes are from late 2022.
