Projects
Weather Alert Pro
Weather Alert Pro lists active U.S. weather alerts from National Weather Service feeds. The national page filters by severity and hazard, and it sorts by urgency, severity, or soonest expiry. Each alert shows the places it covers, when it ends, and a severity label. A storm risk score and the last sync time stay in the header. Signed-in users save locations, and My alerts lists warnings for those places.
Facilitate180.com
Facilitate180.com is the site for Facilitate180, LLC, conference planning and operational support founded by Dr. Korinne Babel. The page explains modular services, from proposal management and registration through on-site operations, continuing education, and exhibitor support.
Pi IPTV channel guide
The Pi IPTV channel guide is a cable-box guide on a Raspberry Pi. It lists US news, sports, and entertainment, plus Columbus, Georgia and North Alabama locals. Channel numbers, a time ruler, and a program grid fill the page. Choosing a channel plays it on the Pi HDMI output. Listings come from the US XMLTV feed at iptv-epg.org. The guide stays on the home network. The source is on GitHub. Notes are on the Pi IPTV page.
sitemapgen
sitemapgen writes Sitemaps protocol files. It is Python 3.11 and uses only the standard library. sitemapgen build takes a URL list or JSONL. sitemapgen crawl walks one host. The tool writes a UTF-8 XML urlset, splits into a sitemap index past 50,000 URLs or 50 MiB, and can add a Sitemap line to robots.txt. The source is on GitHub. Notes are on the sitemapgen page.
Skdulr.com
Skdulr assigns volunteers to sessions for the annual ACA conference. Doing that schedule by hand could take about three weeks. The site finishes a pass in about a minute. Volunteers and administrators sign in, then view or change the schedule, the people, and the sessions. The scheduler respects the shifts someone wants and the professional commitments they cannot take. Pages refresh from MySQL with jQuery, and Bootstrap supplies the alert messages. The public site is not available right now. Notes are on the Skdulr page.
KoriAndRob.com
KoriAndRob.com is our personal site. The title on the home page is “Sometimes We Travel.” That page tells how we met through mutual friends, kept in touch across a long distance, and decided to be a couple on New Year’s Eve 2011 in Auburn. The rest of the site is a set of pages for each of us, the engagement, the wedding, the honeymoon, photos, pets, songs, and trips, including a 2021 road trip. The travel notes start with a June 2012 trip to Blue Ridge, Georgia, and later describe an RV we use so the pets can come along.
Kori-Babel.com
Kori-Babel.com is the professional site I built for my fiancée, Dr. Korinne H. Babel. The live home page introduces her as an associate professor and graduate program coordinator for counselor education at the University of North Alabama, and as the program’s CACREP liaison. It lists her Georgia licenses, her supervisor credentials, and her Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor credential. Further pages cover education, teaching, supervision, clinical work with children, research on play therapy, publications, grants, awards, and service.
NoctumDesign.com
NoctumDesign.com is where I write about building things. The home page is a blog titled “I build things.” Posts compare Proxmox and Unraid, describe a home server, and look back at a rack that started as five PCs on the floor. Other posts cover Python tools for servers at work and at home, retiring Windows PCs in a school district, and serving a site from memory. The menu also points at Plex notes and the Bitcoin mining pool.
Bitcoin mining pool
The mining pool was a front end for a Bitcoin pool I ran. Development started in 2012 and ended in 2016. The first version took about two months. The pool daemon is eloipool. PHP compiles stats four times a minute, and the pages could refresh about every 15 seconds. The site emails people when they open an account, change an account, or receive a payout. The database grew to 32 tables and nearly 25 GB. The public address no longer responds. Notes are on the mining pool page.
